my friend rick's main sail bolt rope is coming out of the mast track at the base as he is raising the sail the last 4 feet or so. it takes two people- one hoisting, one carefully feeding the bolt rope into the sail track- to get the sail up. anybody have recommendations to help rick get his sail up easily? rick is a new member of our fleet and i hate to see him frustrated by this simple-but aggravating- problem

The Hobie catalog parts list indicates a sailfeeder kit that installs near the base of the mast's feeder track. The feeder helps keep the bolt rope in the luff track. If you do have a feeder then respond again and perhaps someone has a solution. My 16 has a feeder. My 14 doesn't so it does take some extra attention to keep the luff in line.

Get the sail feeder, I had the same problem it drove me Crazy, then I installed the feeder and it worked like a charm never had a problem since it is and easy install, dril a couple of holes and pop a couple of rivets and Voila that little bit of aggravation is gone and you can wait for the next problem to arise. You can get the feeder either throught the Hobie Parts Catalog or through Murray' s Marine at Murrays.com. this will solve your problem.
