I'm considering buying a Reynolds 21 that has sat inactive for who knows how long, probably 15 years. One of the deciding factors is the cost of a new trampoline. I've looked through the list of tramps available in the store here and naturally this white elephant isn't listed.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a price on one of these? I've tried Reynolds and they don't have any.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
Matt

Matt;

You might try here. Most cat sailors around here use them. I love my new blue mesh.

Thanks a million for the quick reply. I googled 'sunrise trampolines' earlier and only found this site. I didn't know their full name.

If you email the Catsailor store they can quote one for you. Give it a shot.

Yes, please call us or e-mail us. Rick at catsailor.com or phone 419-285-3505. 305-451-3287 also works, but it is being forwarded to us up in Ohio for the summer.

I posted this at the Fboats forum too, but could you pass this word to Rick, or maybe you know...

We bought your excellent 12:1 mainsheet system, and I've reeved it, but it doesn't look like the picture at the onlinemarinestore...

you have a reeving diagram for this thing?

thanks in advance

This sig would be something witty, but the censors are against that.

Thanks Mary. Yes I sent him a note a day or so before posting my inquiry but got impatient since the trampoline cost is a deciding factor in buying the boat.

Regards,
Matt

Matt,
Rick has not received any e-mail from you. Did you send it to rick at catsailor.com? He answers all the e-mails he gets.

Most reviews of the reynolds are great. Tramps and nets are replacement items. I would not let the price of the new tramp keep you from buying the boat, but I would suggest you could use that as a bargaining point to bring the price down a little. Try local sailmakers or canvas shops if you can't find something off the shelf.

Thanks for the encouraging words Keith. The tramp is a contributing factor to buying the boat, or I should say boats, but not the only one. There are 2 of them and they won't sell just one. They've been sitting derelict for 15 years. All lines need replacing, the tops of hulls are shot on one of them so it will probably get stripped of parts, chain sawed into pieces and hauled off. If I could figure out how to post a pic, I'd show you the one I took last night that shows the one with the good hulls and the tree that's growing through the tramp. It'd be good for a laugh.
I have a knack for taking on projects that turn out to be infinitely bigger than I anticipate, and I suspect this will become one of those. But I miss my old Tornado and if I look at newer, better and pricier cats some other toy will have to go. I did get a price on the trampoline today - $900. Both boats are $1K. Could be a bargain, could be a huge mistake.

Hey Matt,

Did you get the boat? I was thinking about buying an R21 once but I chicken out. It looks like a great boat. I will be curious to know if you took on the project.

If worse comes to worse, we can have the tramp made for you. We would need dimensions and/or the old tramps to copy.

Hey Dave,

May I call you? I have some questions about the R21. I am keeping my eye out for one. If one comes up I will seriously consider getting it. What did you get to replace yours?

Yes Waldo, I did get the boats. I only need one but I believe the hulls on the other are not worth fixing. I walked on it and the topsides squished down and stayed there.

Thanks for the offer of advice Dave, I appreciate it. One question I do have now is did you ever see a hull number on your boat? I can't locate one on the outside, although I haven't cleaned out the inside thoroughly yet.
I spent the weekend removing hardware, tramps, lines, cleaning hulls, putting new tires on the trailer, etc, etc. The hulls are cleaning up nice. I'm getting the tramp restiched for now, I'll be spending enough as it is without replacing it. Hopefully I won't go through it. It looks like it's got a lot of freeboard and getting back on wouldn't be easy.
I don't know if you've ever seen what mud daubers can do. 20 years worth of nests inside a boat make a spectacular mess. This is gonna be a real sweat, check out the pic.

Matt

Alright Matt,

Way to go!!!! It looks like you are going to have a fun project and great sailing when you are done. Please keep us posted on the progress of the project.

You have got me thinking. Next time I see an R21 for sale I may get it.

Cheers, Waldo <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
