F18 News: North Sea Regatta

Nacra F18 Infusion keeps on dominating F18 fleet!

After four days of racing with 12 races sailed in total, it was very obvious and clear that the Nacra F18 Infusion is the best F18 out there. During this regatta there has been raced in a huge range of different sailing conditions, from 5 knts with flat water, 10 knts choppy waves to 25 knts with big waves. The Nacra F18 showed to be a superb allround boat and demonstrated it can win races in any sailing condition. We especially would like to congratulate Mischa & Sander, Vincent & Herwin, Sascha & Gunnar and Coen & Peter on their result. Great performance guys!

1 NED 71 Mischa Heemskerk, Sander de Boer 21.0 , Nacra F18 Infusion

Thanks,

Dave,

I just copied what I got in an email and thought it interesting enough to post here.

Last weekend I sailed the NSR 2006. The Infusions look fine, especially in their first year. Some small problems. But saying they're the fastest F18, well no(t yet). A little addition to the text is that all dutch top-teams from last year switched to a F18 Infusion.
The only comparison can be made in international races, and in these races Darren Bundock/Glenn Ashby are still fastest on their Hobie Tiger.

I'm with Boomer on this one. Why did Kenbeek get RAF ? What is RAF anyway ?

The other teams will need a very good day to beat Heemskerk and Vink (no matter which boats are sailed).

No - a good boy for owning up to it and eating a regatta. Sometimes, as a gentleman, your only course is to retire. I don't know the particulars, but at best he discovered he'd broken a rule after the event and did the right thing, and at worst, he came to realize he would be wasting the protest committee's time. Either way, an RAF is generally an indicator of a good sport.

True enough, John - I was being faceitous with the "bad boy" comment.

I took an RAF in a race last year that ended up costing me the HCA Division 16 high points award - because it was the right thing to do.

Do the 5th and 6th place work for RTL4 as shoe shine boys for Andre Van Duin and Paul de Leeuw so you really should'nt count them!

I think that we can agree that the quickest F18 is the one Bundock is on.

It is fair though to note that the top Infusion sailors scored better than they did in previous years (on the old nacra F18). I'm quite impressed with the performance of the new boat. It would be good to see how Remco Kenbeek (in my opinion one of the best F18 sailors) on his Capricorn deals with the Infusions. Let's wait for the next event.

Respect ! [Re: mbounds] #77291
