My Traveler is a small bracket that sits in the slide, it is moved in the slide by pulling two lines that lock in jam cleats. can a more modern taveler be used in the exsisting slide? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Whoa! You're really old school. The traveller was upgraded to a roller bearing version in 1976.

Get the Hobie Catalog here.

A picture of what you need to get is at the top of page 25. Any Hobie dealer can get you a new traveller - make sure you get the "old" style with the smaller wheels.

No. The forestay holds the mast up until the jib is raised. Put the forestay in the top hole of the chain plate after stepping the mast. The cable in the jib can be placed in any hole (other than the top one) to adjust the rake of the mast.
