Posts: 1,669 Melbourne, Australia | Sydney Flying Squadron Brass Monkey Regatta 12th and 13th August 2006 Yes, the cats are invited again this year. Last years event saw about 8 Catamarans from NSW and Vic taking on more than 50 monos including the mighty 18, 16, 14 and 12 foot skiffs. The 2 A Class cats also walked away with the regatta, taking the top 2 places in the go fast division. Cats included 1x Taipan 5.7, 1x Tiger, 4x F16, 2x A Class. This event conflicted with both the AUS F18 Nationals last year and the Hamo race week. It should be much bigger and better than last year..... Which was a first class event despite. More info available in the new week, including NOR. Rigging will be available at the SFS and also Woollahra SC. Lets give a show of force this year and really give it to the Skiffies. Unregistered | Hi Steve,
Looks like Altered is on the way for the Brass Monkey, so those skiffs had better watch out after last year, if I can keep it upright they should't have a chance ha ha. Have just serviced trailer, will have a Mossie on top as well. How did the Marathon go, sounds like the Blade didn't make it but he hopes to be in the water for the Brass Monkey. By the way where are you going to sail from?

Unregistered | Hi Berny,
thats a pity, was looking forward to seeing your pocket rocket and maybe helping with your spin systems. Sounds like you have been going through alot of the same things we have now sorted after a couple years use of our system.
Come along and say hello if you are around, if it's anything like last year there is plenty to look at.

Unregistered | Hi all,
just to let you know it has been run and won.
Two races in very light winds. Two races in wind that allowed some trapezing on the cats.
Cats did very well dominating the front of the fastest fleet Div.1. Most races there was one Skiff up the front amongst the cats. I think line honours where 3 to 1 in favour of cats but this may be wrong.
Over the series on VYC Yardstick the Mosquito with spinnaker sailed by Tim Shepperd was first with a A class second and F16 "Altered" third. Overall results are on the website. Will be some good photos soon also.
More details and full report to follow.
