The High Sierra Regatta is coming up on 7/8-7/9 at Huntington Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks. This is a huge regatta spanning two weekends with hundreds of sailors expected of every shape and size of boat. Participants usually include past and present olympians and national champs of various classes.
The first weekend--July 8 and 9--includes the open multihull class (any cat will do, from Hobie 14 to Inter 20). If you're looking for a regatta to attend with incredible regatta conditions, this is it. The lake has reliable 10-16 knot winds and an interesting layout. The last few years the multihulls have started with the skiffs (49ers, 29ers, I14s, and Int. canoes)--I must say, it is a real kick hitting the line with these boats and blazing around the course with them.
So if you're looking for a great regatta in a great location (excellent scenery, weather, hiking, kayaking, camping, fishing, etc), please go to:

ps If you've got family, it's also got a great beach area with swimming, kayaking, etc--all located directly in front of the start/finish, so they can watch all the action from shore...Oh, and the fishing is good too; just watch for sailboats (see other post on snagging fisherman's line)
