Who is going to stop the Aussie team of Bundy / Gashby

Press release - Aussies win final warm up event before Formula 18 World Championship

Sunday, 2 July 2006

Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby win the Belgium Murphy and Nye Formula 18 regatta against 49 of there nearest rivals one week before they defend their Formula 18 World championship once again sailing their Hobie Cat Tiger.

Bundock from the NSW Central Coast and Ashby from Central Victoria held a two day coaching clinic before the regatta for fellow Hobie Cat Tiger sailors before going out and demonstrating how it is done with a score card of 1,1,1,1,4,1,1,1.

Bundock said "It is very promising finishing a regatta with only one race spoiling a perfect score card with and especially only a week to go before the world championships begin. Our goal next week is to win the World Championship for the third successive year and we are confident we are sailing better than ever."

Ashby said " we have had ideal conditions in the past two days with plenty of sun shine, sea breezes and its been great practise for Beijing as we have had a lot of tide effect at this regatta and believe this will be the same in China"

Bundock/Ashby have shy rocketed up the Tornado World Rankings after their victory in Kiel, Germany last week reaching 5th position and hope to reach the number 1 by the end of the year.

The Formula 18 World championships are from the 8-15 July in Hyeres, France.

I wish them all the good fortune though I doubt they'll need it. They'll do well, they're an awesome team,.

Be nice to be there <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

What about Heemskerk from the Netherlands? Seems he does pretty well on the F18. Tough to beat a two time champ though.
