Looks like I'll be able to make it. I'll be leaving Friday morning, what time does the bar open. I'm a drinker with a sailing problem!!!!

I am available to crew/skipper if anyone needs my services. Otherwise I will be jumping on a yacht for the weekend since Cowes Week is on.

Hi Wayne
It would be great to see a few Datchet boats at Eastb'e, got to show the other Cat competitors that we take our racing seriously espeicialy after a gallon at the bar. Never know might even try and get a sail in Friday afternoon before it opens or is that being a bit keen? Or we could sail over to France for a booze cruise on the Saturday.
By the way I'll be sleeping in the van, "nice'n'cosy isn't it"

What are you guys doing about accommodation? Is it a case of just turn up on spec with sleeping bag and tent?

there is a grass area at the club that will accomodate several tents, only 20 yards from the club door!
There are 'proper' sites about 2 miles away.
Also there is a travel inn 5 min drive and loads of guest houses and hotels along the seafront opposite the club.
details here- http://www.sailing-at-eastbourne.co.uk/local_accommodation.htm

see you there, should be a good weekend
there will be a few spitfires there to snap at the F16 heels!

Its the ideal place to offer constructive critisism from.

Note to everyone-
The galley will be serving one of their famous(infamous!) lasagne meals sat evening, make sure you book a meal at reception.

Here at Eastbourne the cats race against dinghies for several handicap trophies throughout the year so we currently are using the Portsmouth Handicap system with cat numbers worked out from the SCHRS.(Spitfire is 712)
For the open-
All boats will start together.
Class prizes will be awarded to:
F16,Dart 16,Spitfire & Hobie 16
Other prizes will be awarded to a Class with 5 or more entrants.
There will be separate results for Hobie 16 & Dart 16 racing with Gennikers plus handicap fleet prize

Hi Gary
Would the F16 be off 698 or higher. If an A Class turned up could they also sail off this number.
SCHRS for an 'A' is 0.97 which seems pretty rediculous and could possibly put them off participating.

not sure of the f16 and A class number without checking, but F16 are racing in class so no number will be needed!
are they that keen on winning that this will make a difference?

Took my family down to Eastbourne and watched you from the beach today. That looked pretty close to perfect conditions. Hope you had fun. I was suprised how calm the sea was considering it was SW. I am sure in Brighton (20 miles west) we would have had a bigger sea. Are you protected from the swell by beachy head (headland just west of Eastbourne)?

oh yes those 500 feet high chalk cliffs help to keep the s----y weather away!
Saturday was good fun but Sunday was even better with the wind building to a stiff F4-5 and the waves downwind were great <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
Thanks to everyone that came, good to see you all.
What a mixed fleet, right down to a Dart16 sailor who only bought his boat a week ago and only learnt to sail 2 weeks before that!(he came 3rd in the Dart fleet!!!!! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />)
2 Capricorns,
1 Nacra6,
1 Shadow,
1 HurricaneSX,
6 Dart16s
6 F16
10 Spitfires
and a Tornado
all starting together was really good and meant we had more time sailing and less waiting around.
Hope you all had a good time.
gary
