How many of you are out there?????

People sailing Tacticat are from everywhere, and sail all types of boats, even mono hulls. How then that there are so many F16?.

F16 sailors are playing tacticat from UK, NED, AUS and USA if memory serves. People in Spain, at least, has start wondering what is this F16 thing <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />. We thought it was a fighter.

aestela.
Happy you enjoy it!

Canada too, eh.

Perhaps we F16 types are early adopters. The Blade is a new boat yet we put our money on it. Your tacticat was in beta but that didn't stop us from enjoying it.

And the fighter thing? It doesn't hurt to have that mental connection.

In my opinion, it is the optimal mix of F18 and A Class (see Jalani, I read your posts). Additionally, it offers a versatile platform for 1-up or 2-up racing. Many, many more benefits.....

I've enjoyed your site. It is addictive, though <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Actually we do share alot more with the f16 fighter concept then just the name.

The F16 "Fighting Falcon" became an important part in the fight between two groups of US military specilists in the procurement department. One group favoured big, heavy, double engined, cramped with high tech and expensive specilized air supremacy fighter planes like the F15 Eagle (notice the name) and F14 Tomcat while another group strongly favoured builing up an airforce with relatively cheap, lightweight, simple, sufficiently high tech and multi-role versatile fighter planes like the F16 and also the F18 Hornet.

Neither group really won, in the USA that is, but the F16 became a hit world wide with alot more sold then the F15's and even in US service the F16 is a favoured plane in many conflicts as it can switch easily from air supremecy roles to ground attacking support roles. It simply is the more versatile craft. And it is both used in single seater and double seater roles. The F18 Hornet eventually became a rather popular craft on aircraft carriers as well.

So I see more then a few links between us and the F16 fighter planes then just the names.

I also like the Falcon better as a bird then the Eagle. The Falcon is a more gracious bird and is actually faster in flight as well.
