Do any of you H16 sailors adjust mainsail batten tension before sailing ? If so, are there any rules of thumb ?
I am familiar with 'sail measurement' and '3w's' described by Phil Berman in the H16 performance manual.
I just don't see too many skippers adjusting batten tension over where I sail.

On the same topic : should I release the tension before storing ?

Any tips would be well appreciated.

Tom

Tension them enough to take the wrinkles out of the sail. You can reshape the battens to adjust the pocket but that's something to discuss on a slow day.

Do not EVER put the sails away without removing all tension on the battens. Otherwise, the sails get stretched out over time.
