I thought I'd mention this - I'm wondering who else might be going.

Catfight is August 12-14th. Three days of racing on Lake Michigan. We've done it last three years and it is a great event. This will be a great tune up event for F18 NAs because they start all spin boats (F16s, F17s, F18s, 20s) together so you get great big fleet race practice.

We will be one of two Capricorns up there. Anyone else going from Florida? JW - have you sailed your boat yet?

Sorry Olli, not this year. We're headed over to Kingston, ON for the Canadian F18's on the same weekend. It's a six hour drive either way. I've decided to go to the competition that would have the larger F18 fleet. Besides, I won't have to deal with driving through Chicago. See you at Carlyle?

Hey... I thought you guys hated Kingston... When I enquired about the former mulithull regatta at Kingston at the begining of the hobie edict.. I was told

Launch sucks
Too much money
They don't give you anything (give aways)
They don't have any social events
We have just as nice sailing conditions down the coast within an hour.

Mark,

The F18 event is part of a larger CORK week long regatta. CORK is under new management now (Ross is gone) and things have changed for the better. I wouldn't say the launching sucks...it's just unique and you adapt as with any sailing venue. It's still a little pricey compared to Hobie points regattas but they do include the socials now. I like sailing at Kingston. I'm going for the competition and to see old friends from Quebec. Being in Detroit, CORK vs. Cat Fight is 6 of one, half dozen of the other regarding the drive distance. Going to Kingston has the BIG advantage...no I-80/I-90 congestion in IL and IN or Chicago to deal with...although Toronto can be trying depending on the time of day. Any other NE state-side F18's coming up?
