I use the same site for my 17 line lengths and types. So far, its been pretty accurate on everything except for my trapeze lines. (11' shock cord on a 17 is a bit to long [Linked Image] )

I seem to remember that sailors didn't use lines for those H14 and H16 tramps but rather a thick diameter bungee cord.

I just relaced my H-16 tremp with 7/16" uv resistant shock cord. If you use shock cord you want to be sure and stretch it very tight. It's not the easiest stuff to work with but if you take your time and get it tight the end result is a nice taught tramp.

I've heard that using shock cord instead of line will increase the lifespan of the tramp. That way the cord will absorb some of the impact loads.

As a general rule, if you were to use shock cord instead of regular line, what length proportionally should you get? I imagine if you use the same length shock cord, your butt would be getting wet [Linked Image]

Thats why you have to pull the shock cord extremely tight. I can't remember the lengths but murray's sells the kit. I think it's only about $12-$16.

I thought that tramp tension was good because it affected hull stiffness?

I laced my H16 with 1/2" pre-stretched halyard line and two pairs of vice-grips. by the time I was done the side beams were each curved inward by about 2"

Just used the Murrays Shock Cord lacing kit a week or so ago. The Advertised lengths are 20' center by two 15' end sections. There was a noticeable disparity between the amount of cord given for the center section and the amounts for the end sections. The center section had lots of length left over before the cord was stretched. The end pieces had a little left over after they were stretched tightly into place.

This might be because after 83, the rear tramp section was double grommeted, and 15' is the old measurement. Just guessing.
