Here's how i'm setting up my economic Jib traveler system (see attachment). anyone have any comments on things i might have missed. i've been using the factory adjustable traveler and have never even seen an adjustable up close. am i doing it right? anyone ever experiment with a similar system? i figue about $157 not including the line. seems cheaper than most i've seen in murray's. some are cheaper but indicate 'does not include this or that'. any thoughts?

This looks pretty good. The only thing you should probably changeis the shock cord attatchment. Put a pad eye at the end ( 8-12" away) of the traveler track. Then tie off your shock cord to the pad eye. This is the way I've seen it done.



Let me know how it works out I've considered doing something similar.

maybe, rather than route the red line from the traveler thru the cheek block and cleat and back through the other side, you can route a line from the port traveler through the port cheek block to the starboard traveler. you can route another line from the starboard traveler thru the starboard cheek block and thru the cam cleat. this way, you can adjust both the port and starboard travelers at the same time and use 1 less cleat. you may have to play with the placement of the port cheek block.

i thought about doing something like that but figured that it was more important to keep the tramp less cluttered by using one continuous line than to save the $40 on the extra cam-cleat.

Looks good. I have my traveller system set up the same way. I used "lance cleats" screwed directly to the front cross bar for the traveller control line cleats. The lance cleats look kind of puny but they have worked fine for many years. An alternative would be Harken or Ronstan cammatic cleats. Not sure if you would need to use an angle base for the cammatics. Lance/cammatic cleats are available mail order from Hobie/Murrays/Layline or from West Marine, etc. if you want to see them "live".
