HELP PLEASE. Restoring 1975 Hobie 12"(3.5m) cataraman for grandchildren. This Hobie is very similar to the Hobie 14' cat only smaller. Received boat as a gift with parts missing. The parts I still need are the lower rudder castings, the upper rudders castings with tiller bars and the tiller crossover bar. Also would like to get an original owners manual or a copy of same if possible.

I was told that the Hobie 12 or 13 used early Hobie 14 rudders. In fact I was told all the castings were common with the 14. Since I have not seen one in 20 years I can't be sure. If this is the case you could shorten a 14 tiller crossbar.

The Hobie 3.5 (miniature H-14 - about 11 feet long) shares few components with the H-14 and H-16.

It has more in common with the Hobie 12 Monocat and Hobie 10 monohull (rudders).

eBay will be your source for this stuff.

I too have one of these little Hobies. I am having a very difficult time getting parts for it. I need a boom and the tackle on the boom. If anyone has a few pics they could snap for me I would appreciate it.

Wish I was on the water instead of in front of a computer.

I made several rudders for these little cats- wooden ones of mahogany. They dont use Hobie 14 rudders. Then my kids - and wife got too big. 120 pounds max.
