My 4.9 project was never going to come up clean and tidy without paint sadly. I am trying to be mindful of the positives like a not grey boat.
Please post any ideas on what not to do and any positives I can gain.
I am fairing with epoxy and then two pot undercoat and two pot paint.

If you are going to leave the boat in the water, or if you just want a better bottom, do the lower half of the hull with Interlux VC Performance Epoxy paint. I just did mine (sprayed in my booth) and it came out flawless, plus, because its considered a bottom paint, it is much less prone to blistering than standard topside paint. It only comes in white, and you can get it at West Marine. Dont get the version that have any biolux or antifouling properties, it will not come out as smooth.
For the topside (or even the whole boat if your dry sailing) the Interlux Perfection is excellent, but you cant spray it, which is fine, I've rolled and sprayed it (I have the correct equiptment), and the difference is very minor, its an excellent quality paint.

Make sure that just before you paint, any areas that are epoxied, you must scrub with soap and water,(not for grease, but to remove the epoxy aging film) then scuff up to a 220 finish (or per paint instructions). This needs to happen to any epoxy that is more than 48hrs old.

Have fun.

In Australia the company is called International and the product is perfection. You can get details off the web at yaughtpaint.com, they also give an excellent CD instead of a brochure that shows all the steps.
