Steve, that's a real shame..... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

What was the purpose of the straight through hole at the point where the mast broke? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

not sure about the hole some bloody idiot put it there long before I bought her!
The mast actually snapped twice (no point in doing things by halves)

A sad sight..

Was the top section tapered? If not, perhaps you can find a fitting tube cheaply with a rigger, or even during the fall clearouts around boatyards and harbours? It dont look like a rotating setup?

Looks like you had four adults on her in a fresh breeze when the mast broke. I assume you have tought a bit on why the rig snapped.. Can it have been a case of overloading the section, or did a stay or something give way?
What kind of sailare did she have? It looks immense!
