Are there any articles on how to modify my old rudder system to make it adjustable. The tiller pulls like a mother so I need to tuck them under alittle, but there is no way to adjust mine. I could put shims under the gudgeons, but all the articles I've read describe something that my system does not have. Any sites that describe this mod. Thanks. M.Gann

What year and model is your boat.

I believe for an old H16 this is correct. As far as I know your only choice is to fill the current holes with epoxy (the top ones where the tillers connect) and redrill them. In your case you will want to redrill them slightly closer to the leading edge of the blades.

Someone out there may know of a better method. Please correct me if you do.

Redrilling the upper hole is the way to go. Find someone that's gone through the process and use their rudders for a template to eliminate your R&D time.

ebay. Castings are pretty cheap. Call around to some of the places that sell used parts. The 80's boats are getting parted out more and more every day. I need to do the same thing to my 14. Upgrade to EPO's while you're at it.

I'm boatless.
