Cane has a new brother that will soon take over the position of aux. crew and also will be the Entertainment Director here at our motel. Take at look at our kid by clicking on the following hotlink: http://www.catsailor.com/Cody.htmlLife is Good! Rick | | | Sure! Nugget and Cane both crewed for me!

Posts: 3,355 Key Largo, FL and Put-in-Bay, ... | Our first Golden was the Rugged Nugget of Gore (we used to live in Vail, CO and he was born in the Gore Range -- no relation to the alpha-male that ran for pres.
At Sandusky SC in Ohio a lady asked if she could crew for me, so I agreed. However, it was right after the time change and she didn't show on time. So, I yelled at Nugget that he was the guy.
He gladly jumped aboard and we won the races. When the boat flew a hull he would climb to the top of the boat and put his paws and head over the side and hold on.
Funny story, but as we were sailing back to the harbor (Tom Tannert was following me in on his Hobie 18) and I was trapped. We got into a wind shadow and I tea-bagged myself and was spinning around sort of in and out of the water after my feeet sllipped off the gunwale.
Joking I yelled, "Help me, Nugget!"
He got really anxious and really concentrated and when he got his chance he grabbed my hat. Guess he thought that would save me.
Tannert almost fell off his boat laughing so hard.
Then Cane and I also raced together and did well. He preferred staying on the high side of the boat and that was when we were working on developing the Wild Thing. I kept telling him to get back down here on the leeward side.., and he would for a short time.
Then a wave would hit him and he would dart for the upwind side. He wasn't as dumb as I was.
At any rate, both Goldens were simply great dogs, friends and the only kids I had that turned out OK! Well! at least they were the only ones that listened.
Cody is nearly house trained already, shakes hands, comes most of the time.., so it would appear that he is on the way to being another great Golden.
