My God what a thrashing! I was beaten soundly by everybody and everything. Fortunately the little kids on the Optis were sailing inside!
If I ever figure out what happened, I'll post the gorey details. Right now I'm still dazed and confused!
Beautiful venue, really nice people. Very pleasant gathering Saturday night. Special thanks to Jennifer for her critique; very nice lady. Brian too! Not that he's a lady! But his critique was helpful!
Verbal snapshots:
The Ingrams tailgating with a very large jug of some exotic elixir, getting into the proper vacation mood! Dave in a Panama hat, smoking a big cigar, and looking very content.
Brett Moss and crew double trapped on a H16. Great stuff for a post card. Beautiful boat.
Dozens of little kids in sailing gear, milling around before the skipper's meeting. All very excited, carnival atmosphere.
High point of the weekend: dinner Friday night with the Fleet 111 people. Probably gonna join them in the Keys in May.

It was an awesome regatta. This was my first bouy regatta on the new (to me) I-20. Switching to this class was certainly a humbling move. Those guys are fast! Having a catostrophic failure during the second race certainly messed up the weekend, but the boat will definately be repaired in time for Steeplechase.
If your havin girl problems i feel bad for you son I got 99 problems but my beautiful wife ain't one

That boat is a grin machine 'aint it? Nothing will bring up your speed better than competing in an active and talented one design fleet.

Sailing upwind in HEAVY chop and heard a "snapping" sound. At first everthing appeared ok, but then I noticed the hull flexing at the rear beam. Immediatly stopped the boat, and peared under the rear beam. I noticed a large crack in the hull right under the rear beam. Dropped out of the race and sailed gingerly back to the beach. Upon dismanteling the boat, found what is shown in the picture.
Plans for the repair.....Add an inspection port forward of the new beam to lay up more glass (or carbon) on the inside of the hull. Have a friend who owns a machine shop make another aluminum plate and drill additional holes through the existing plate through the new plate and bolt them together, and then reglass the entire area that pulled out. Should be as good, if not better than new by the time I'm finished.
I'll try to take photos as the repair progresses and post when the job is done.

. I guess I was overpowered. In the 3rd race I, finally, let the traveler down a few inches and that made a big difference. Now I just have to figure out rotation and downhaul.
