Will,

Yes I'll be watching from my armchair in the lounge room with a cold beer. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Hope you enjoy the atmosphere and hopefully it's not too windy.

Regards,

Peter

Should be spectacular start. Been word around that it might be a spinnaker sprint to the heads then a nice hard work for the first 24 hours

Do you ever wonder why they dont have catamarans in the Hobart? Imagine being stuck on the rail of the latest XYZ 40footer doing 8 knots upwind all the way to Hobart, my Mozzie does better then 8knots upwind, keelboats seem like a lot of hassle to go not very fast.

Well what a day had a very good vantage spot of the start (right on the start line) and close enough to hear the abuse coming from the bow man on abn amro to skandia after dumping right on top of them then vearing off spraying a whole lot of water over him.
Hope they all have a safe race as tonight they will be hitting 25knts 4m swell and forecasts predict 40-50knts through the straight and down the coast of tassie.

Piccis to come

Very nice Will...... Looks like you had a great vantage spot.

I ended up watching the fleet at South Head and following them around the point.

My crew and I have decided that we will try and get on a boat for next year just to say we have done it.

Set out from Port Hacking, headed straigh to sea, 20 Klms later we intercepted the middle of the bunch, out ther it was 2 to 3 mtrs and good 15knots all the way. They were in for a hard night and was not a lot of smiling faces perched on the lined up on the High sides of the ones we got close to. We were on a 57 footer and had some work to do ourselves, but was a great day all the same and will be doing again next year for sure.
Great Pics Wildtoy and Old Hand

Hi All

Wild Oats leads over Skandia. Maximus and ABN Ambro One both dismasted in about 30 knots.

So I guess any pressure Wild Oats was under has relaxed a bit.

Follow the race at rolexsydneyhobart.com

Yeh we got right on the start line and some of the action was awesum.
I will be doing the Hobart next year and hopefully it might be on the boat that I used to partially own.
Gave me itchy fingers watching it as this was the first time in 3 years that I missed going down <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Hi all,

you guy's are a worry, whats all this talk about wanting or doing Sydney Hobarts <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />.

I thought all the smart off the beach sailors, had tried ocean racing and been cured of the need to inflict this sort of punishment on themselves. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Causing them to return to the pure form of sailing. OTB Cats, where simplicity and performance rules. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

It's also doesn't require getting off your face afterwards for longer than the time you spent sailing. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The cure for these irrational thoughts. Fit a spinnaker to your Mossies and you will never want to sail anything else. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Regards Doctor Gary. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, sometimes you just have to go back and do it to appreciate what fine machines we have <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

That said, I would love to get into some Ocean racing on a big racing cat / tri

Last year going to Hobart it took us just under 4 days and that was with steering problems.
The boat I should of been racing this year is coming 38th I think around there anyway and The boat Im trying to get on is a maxi 80ft if they are going next year.

you back in syd. yet? Cam reckons he can beat you in a race with his new rudder setup <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I still haven't finished my rudder setup and I know with the extra rake I'll need some tacking practice but I am keen to test it out. Woooshka.. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
