We just got 2 inchs of ice dumped on us here in Oklahoma, and that was quickly followed by about 6 inchs of snow. This picture was before the snow, I didn't get the tarp on her before the ice started down. I feel bad but it made for some interesting pics.
This is the official end to my season, I don't think my wetsuite would help on a day like this. I think a month off will be about right!

You are letting your new boat sit outside uncovered?
Go get a $10 Home Depot tarp and throw it over the mast tie it off under the hulls, keeps the snow and ice off it. I wouldnt want to let snow build up on the tramp. Thats a good way to wear out your tramp.
Yeah, either put a tarp on her or cover of some sort, or get her under cover like a garage or something. I'm goin out on a limb this year and putting my boat in the garage and letting the car deal with the snow and ice this year instead.
Too much snow can crush a cat. It happened to a boat in our fleet which was left out in the open at Lake Tahoe. Probably not something you need to worry about in most parts of the world.
Read my post, I had just put her beside the house, the storm hit when I was in class and had no way to come home. I actually have a heavy duty tarp. It is the kind that they use to cover stuff on Semis. I felt really dump for not getting my tarp on it before the storm. As soon as she drys out I will have the tarp on her!!!
