Sailing for 1 year now, monohull 18' Ultimate. Lots of fun and great learning curve. Thinking about building my own CAT in the off season as a friend and teacher of what ropes to pull when sails Tornadoes and Taipans. Looked at a Paper Tiger however they seem to lack a certain something. Namely jibs and more importantly KITES <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />. So the next step in the search found the Mozzie. What I would like to know is where I can get hold of a set of rules for the construction of the boat. Not being one to do things by halves, I see my little project with carbon beams, mast, and boom if this is allowed. Total enjoyment has been had re designing the Ultimate for 1 up sailing and has turned a few heads amongst the seasoned sailors in the club I sail from.
Anyway any advice / assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve and the 7p's

Steve,

The location for the rules is on the link below.

http://home.vicnet.net.au/~nmcca/doc/Mosquito_BRR.pdf

I'm affraid that carbon mast and boom aren't legal but you can make the hulls from carbon without any hesitation.

Good luck with the project.

Regards,

Peter

Steve, Sounds like you are going to do some things others have not, the Restrictions are on the National webs site. Using Carbon for the Mast and Beams is not allowed. The material that the boom is made from is un-restricted. As Peter has said the restriction are on the National web site. Building instructions (plans) are also available from the association. There are a number of boats being built at the moment Good luck building your own boat it is very satisfying; keep us informed on your progress
Peter
