Finaly after long waiting last friday was the day I could pick up my new Blade at Catamaranparts.nl the shop of Hans Klok.
Hans father, the famous Piet Saarberg(A-cat sailer, 2 times winner of the Round of Texel), helped me perfectly with making the cat ready for transport.
Hans could not be there because he was/is in hospital.

So now the Blade is in the boxes and waiting to be moved with the rest of our belongings because we will be moving to New Zealand on the 4th of January.
Unfortunatly we will arrive after a day flying but the container with the Blade will take at least 6 weeks to get to Auckland, so sailing will have to wait.

Ok and a photo of the NED666 in front of Hans shop with the jib up.

Is your main also in red ? And is that a pentex jib ?

Hans is in hospital because he became ill last weekend, and they found legionella contamination on him, so he was seriously ill.
He is not in danger anymore but has to be monitored for a few days.
Hopefuly he will be better soon.

Yes the NED666 has a red pentex main and jib and a black spi.
I thought to be original with colour and number but the number is already being copied.

Because I'm Dutch I asked for the letters NED untill I get a New Zealand pasport than it will change into NZL. Also, at the time I ordered the Blade we still didn't know if we would get a permanent residence visa for New Zealand that's why there is NED in the main.

It's all kind of funny, 2 people ordering a Blade at Hans Klok shop asking the same time for the same number and than seeing a picture of a Blade(F18) with also the same number.
I probably will put the numbers upside down when the letters change into NZL <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have to ask…why would you want to associate yourself with the personification of everything evil?... That number represents every disgusting act of violence and hate the world had ever known. Cheat, thief, liar, murder, rapist, child molester, drunkard, spouse abuser (and the lists goes on and on)… Are these things you want people to associate you with? I hope not.

Even in non Christian circles the meaning of 666 is well known. Proudly displaying the mark of the “damned” leaves me baffled…anyone who has ever read the book of Revelation in the Bible knows the beast is destroyed…aka…looses in the end…So the question remains…Why would one want to brand ONESELF as a cheating, lying, looser?
I am sure you can accomplish the “shock value” you are looking for in a much more creative way. Not trying to censor, I would just like to think that your character is far above what that number represents to many on the planet.

Interpretations of different versions of the bible has created a dispute over wether the number of the beast is 616 or 666. Further, there is discussion over what the number really mean and it's importance. Revelations can also be read two ways, in the past tense, or the future tense. If read in the past tense, the number can singify anything from emperor Nero to the romans and their taxes themselves. If in the future tense.. There are several ways to read and interpret the bible. If you are an charismatic christian, you probably take the contents literally. Not every christian do.

666 is considered a very lucky number in China. I dont know what the muslims, hindus and buddhists think about the number. It's an interesting number in a mathematical sense as well.


For the new year, I will work on my lack of self-control when it comes to non-productive/off topic online discussions! Call it a new year's resolution.

RAGBAK! Hope New Zealand works out well for you, and that you keep in touch with the forum. Would be nice to know how the cat scene is there, and wether you can spread the F-16 message.

good luck in New Zealand, so close but yet so far, on the world map you don't look far from OZ, we see plenty of Kiwis visiting OZ for competition, but not many bring their boats, it would be a major to bring your boat over.

If you are ever over in OZ try to catch up with me or one of the other F16 sailors you see on the forum, I would be happy to let you have a sail on my F16. Hope you can get some interest in F16 started up, in NZ.

With all due respect to the bible, Anglicans, Catholics, protestants, etc, etc, Buddhists, Hindu’s, Muslim’s, etc, etc, and all the others who base their beliefs on superstition, and their lack of ability to accept the fact that they are one day going to cease to exist, and due to their vanity, thinking that they are somehow better than all other living creatures and therefore must have a “purpose” in life designed by some mystical omnipotent being, some where out there, which all goes to make them unable to face up to death as “that’s all she wrote”, a NUMBER IS JUST A NUMBER. If we start allocating “powers” to something as mundane as numbers (which were devised by humans and not someone's idea of “god”), we had better not walk on the cracks, we should throw salt over our shoulder if we spill any, never put our shoes on the table, stay in bed on every Friday the thirteenth, and pay full attention to all those other superstitions that we as human beings, with the ability to think and reason (some of us anyway), should have let go of back when we stopped burning witches at the stake.
