I am looking for a boat to sail at the Tradewinds regatta next month. Anyone looking for a skipper/ crew, or have a boat they are willing to loan out/ charter? I have checked airfare and can swing it, but made the really stupid mistake of not leaving my N20 down in warm country after the Steeplechase.
I have lots of experience racing around the cans and distance racing, most recently on the N20. looking preferably for a spin boat of some kind... F18, N20... etc.
Thanks!!!!

thanks Jake for the encouragement, I would love a rematch!

I realized that I didn't put down my stats... the questions you always ask when triing to pick up crew/ a skipper...
I am 6'2", 200#, and in decent shape. Sailing resume this year includes 3rd at the steeplechase, and a new course record/ 1st place at the statue race in NYC. Numerous top finishes at buoy races as well this season.
If anyone happened to have a N20 around I would be able to provide the kite to save the wear on yours. But again I am open to whatever might be available.
do I sound desperate enough????
Thanks everyone!
Chris

Dude Chris,

If I wasn't having eye surgery the same week of Tradewinds, I'd say we could do it together on my N20.

Piss Poor Planning on my part on scheduling my eye surgery.

Too bad you didn't leave the 20 down there Chris! I bet your kickin yourself for that one.
Oh and I really just commented because it'd be cool to see ya down there and this wasn't on the first page anymore.

If you want some excellent one-design sailing, there should be some extra Waves available -- Chip and Barb Short will helping with the RC and will have their boats available.

Competition will be really tough.

Also, food for thought, Chip and Barb have an I20 they won't be sailing and may charter. try barb at the-helm.com
And, if you are so inclined, I have a Taipan 4.7 (F16) that I could charter, as well.

Love to have you back down.

Rick

Are last years results posted somewhere?
I couldn't get the results page to open up.
It says Access denied.

How many H16's are expected?

There is usually a pretty nice fleet.., last year was about 7 or 8. Appears that a half dozen are registered so far.

The results page opened fine for me when I linked from the story.
Story is at

Could someone repost the driving directions for Tradewinds? I'm getting questions I can't answer.

I am so close!!! Got a spot on the front of a boat in the F18 class (Jake you got your wish!) and even booked my plane ticket. Now it is down to getting from Ft Lauderdale airport to the race site friday evening around 6, and back after the race on sunday night. (flight is at 9pm). Anyone driving past near those times, or anyone want to split a rental car??? I am traveling light (sailing gear traveling down with the boats) and don't smell too bad! (depending on who you ask).
Can't wait to see everyone soon!

I'm flying into Fort Lauderdale but intended to fly in earlier on Friday and out on Monday - how flexible are your plans? I can't get a flight out late enough on Sunday to make it reasonable so I'm stuck with Monday but might be able to come in later on Friday. Be glad to split a rental car.

Sandra's.
Looks like Trip and Mike are double stacking their NF18 and her Tiger for the trip south on my trailer.

Jake, I will shoot you an email.

Chris,
Keys Shuttle has a regular service to and from Fort Lauderdale Airport for $80 one way or $144 round trip. It leaves the airport at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.

The trip takes a little over two hours, because of the other stops along the way, including picking people up at Miami International Airport.

Return trips to the airports from Islamorada leave at 4:45 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., and 3:45 p.m.

Their phone number is 305-289-9997 or 888-765-9997.

For people flying into Miami International, there are more and cheaper options. The Airporter has three trips a day and is $45 each way (305-852-3413). Greyhound has two trips a day and is $25 each way (800-231-2222).

Pete, I am putting the directions on a separate thread, "DIRECTIONS TO TRADEWINDS"
And, hopefully, tomorrow, I will get Rick to put both the directions and the motel list on our home page so they can be more easily found.

Chris, I really enjoyed your Steeplechase report and pics. I hope I'll get to hear all about Tradewinds! Have a great time! I expect you and Sandra to kick butt! Good luck Seacats
