Keep us posted on the action!

Some day I'll make it down there to at least watch, or prostitute myself out for crew (I'd be real cheap).

Keith,

Assuming I get web access there (have a condo), I'll try to write up something every day. In case I don't have access, I'll write up something for our site when we get home. Check out www.strategery.com

Cliff.

Nice site. Giving up the 105 to add another tri to the Northern effort? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Best of luck!

Nah...moved to Destin. Sail out of FWYC. The 105 draft was too deep and mast too high for the bridges here. Besides - we hit 25 knots the day after Christmas. Woo Hoo!

Boudicca, got your PM - yes, Tammi is of Craig and Tammi fame. If you forward to me, I'll send to her.

C.

I just couldn't figure out why I got the phone call, but I guess since I have the Fboat...

This sig would be something witty, but the censors are against that.

Intense racing here. After 4 days racing have a clear 1st place boat - Dealer's Choice. 2nd and 3rd will be a battle today - 4 boats with a shot. Also the amateur national title is down to us and flight simulator. Should be great racing.

Breeze very light and shifty. tough to call. Anything could happen.

On another good note, ESPN is putting a cameraman on our boat today for Jobson's video. Need to make sure the crew behaves!

Gotta go race.

Racing is over and we're driving home. Almost to Tallahasee and have a chance to type while Brian is driving.

The last day's racing was intense. breeze was the strongest of the week, but still lighter than we had trained for. We were able to get a third place finish behind Dealer's Choice (which I think had the best record of the week for any class- BOTW?) and Relentless...(great sailing by both teams).

So the top 3 teams for KWRW were also the top finishers for the Champions (read Pro) class: Dealer's Choice, Bad Boys and Relen tless.

In the Presidents (read Amateur) class we were able to squeeze out Flight Simulator for a first place finish. I know every crew worked hard for their team, but Craig, Scott and Brian were determined that were going to leave nothing on the table. Thanks for the win guys.

Flight Simulator came in second, and Ranger took third. They gave nothing away, and I know we'll be doing battle again soon.

You should be able to see the race on www.kattack.com with their viewer (free). They put transponders on every tri for the last race. Should be lots of data about angles/speed to play with. You will get a sense of just how tight the racing was.

We also had a cameraman from Jobson sailing aboard. Should be a vignette online at www.jobsonsailing.com. I don't know how much of the interview they will keep, but I plugged the class and boat hard.

I can't tell you all how much we enjoyed meeting everyone in the fleet. Really cool people, feirce competitors and great sailors.

We'll be at the NOOD's @ St. Pete. Expect some more great OD sailing!

Regards,

C.

I watched several fleets on the Katatak tracker. It seems the F boats were usually doing 7-8 knots upwind and 8-10 downwind in the race they recorded. But as I watched the mono fleets, their speeds were not much slower, maybe 6-7 upwind and 8 downwind. What was the wind like for the race they put the gps on the F boats? Seems they should have been going faster than 10 downwind unless it was light air (10 or less?) and do you know what it was blowing for the mono's they recorded? Were they sailing in more wind or are the F boats not that much faster than the mono's?

Air was very light...look carefully at the speeds on Kattack - they change quickly. These boats have no keel and are thus slaves to breeze and apparent wind angle.

In planing conditions we can't be compared to them. Example - we hit a top speed of 23 knots at the NOODs and finished a race in 15 minutes.

KWRW was simply really light this year.

C.

Well that light wind would explain the slow speeds. I was expecting to see much higher numbers especially downwind. I will look for the Yahoo F24 group, Thanks.
