I am planning on heading south for the Conch Cup in a week-does anyone have some first hand commentary beyond the NOS info?

iT'S USUALLY A VERY ACTIVE RACE, WINDY, WET AND WILD. IT STARTS IN THE PROTECTED WATERS OF BISCAYNE BAY AND THEN HEADS EAST INTO THE ATLANTIC INTO A STIFF E / NE WIND BACK NORTH TO THE MIAMI YACHT CLUB FOR A DECK PARTY AROUND THE POOL

Conch Cup is a good, fun day on the water. Most sailors leave from the yacht club to go to the start line. Important: Make sure you get a tow from the club to the start line if you don't think you can make it in time for the start. It's a long way.

Take a paddle! You will need to use it under the bridges on the way to the start line where the wind dies and swings from every direction.

Get a chart. Pay attention to the depths. Some parts can be shallow.

Ask for local knowledge to make sure you know the way back to the club after going through Government Cut. It can be a little confusing.

Well, I would say follow me, but you probably don't want to spend that much time righting your boat! I'm going to keep an eye on people around what's left of Stiltsville, but other than that, it looks pretty straightforward. Well, that and I'll keep an eye out for the large ships, as we don't appear on their radars...
