Hi,

Some selective linking hopefully I got them all...

Discussion started from this post.

Excellent post explaining the 800 mm rule.

Mark's second post about how pole lenght affects sailing.

Wouter's post about F16 rule history.

About different pole lenghts.

According to Geerts calculations the max pole length for SCHRS and Texel would mean 3.39 m pole for Blade. This has been usefull conversation for me because I was planning to go for full lenght pole and even though we do not have Texel/SCHRS here in Finland (at least not yet) it should be wise to follow rules.

At least with this pole lenght there is one Blade boom less for Mark to saw if he happens to pop into Zandvoort

G'day All,

So if one were to show up at Zandvoort & have a F16 with a pole length of 3500, but pole tip is further than 800mm from the bow - would this boat be F16 legal for the regatta.?

With regard to the 3500 is the measurement to the tip of the pole or it where the tack lie exits the pole.?

Marcus

To utmost forward point.

at 3500mm you will be F16 legal.

Hi All,

I have been ready this post over the spi pole length and i see that there is some misunderstanding.

The 800 mm rule is ONLY valid when you are competing in an open event and sailing on handicap.
When you are sailing a F16 event ( only F16 boats )like Worlds,Europeans,Nationals, than is the 800 mm NOT the issue because these events are sailed under the class rules and nobody is sailing on handicap against eachother.

So please make this not a big issue, when you come to the Global Challenge in Zandvoort the max pole length is 3500 mm and the distance infront of the boat is NOT measured.

Regards,
Hans Klok
Chairman F16 Governing Council.

Hi,

I didn't mean that 3.5 m wouldn't be F16 class legal, sorry if my post implies that.

Basically why I would propably follow Texel rule is that we have discussed with local F18 sailors about sharing starts and even though we thought about starting without handicap this decission was based on Texel numbers If there would be more different boats on start I assume that we would use Texel or SCHRS and I think it's nor fair to brake rules intentionally.

Re-read my post. The SCHRS rules on pole length are being looked at at the moment.

I don't think it will get any clearer then this !

Valterri, you should propose to the others to use SCHRS handicap and then maximize the boat under F16 rules.

I may just have to switch loyal from Texel to SCHRS handicap rating system myself in the future.
