If they are going to take it across oceans, they might want to put that crew pod up on top. I can see that thing getting slapped in the face by big waves and smasing in all those pretty windows. It's only 15 feet up, that's not going to be high enough to stay dry if it gets rough out there, and it always gets rough out there.

Maybe it's just for cruising the rivers and close to shore?

Ugo Conti’s patent, approved in April 2005, offers some clues, describing the craft this way: The boat is “an entirely different type of vessel that creates the minimum possible disruption of the waves. In other words, this vessel does not push, slap or pierce the waves but instead ‘dances’ with them.

“The vessel has a pair of flexible hulls flexibly coupled to a ‘cabin’ between and above the hulls, thereby allowing the hulls to independently follow the surface of the water. Motor pods are hinged to the back of the hulls to maintain the propulsion system in the water.”

The patent lists possible uses as rescue or patrol vessels, pleasure craft, military uses or research vessels for deployment of submarines or other instruments.

The patent notes the boat could move at 60 knots or more, with a range of 2,000 miles.

After leaving Ilwaco on Sept. 30, the boat was not seen again until early October, when it moored at the Marina Bay Yacht Harbor in Richmond, Calif.

OK, now take it out in the Pacific in 40 knots of wind and waves, I really want to see it "...dance with the waves."

Looks great on flat water, now let's see it in the open ocean with a good swell and 40 knots of wind.

To be fair mate, this forum has only JUST been rebuilt and caters for Tasmania, Australias' smallest state. Keeps the comunication lines open between the 2 catamaran clubs.

What a ripoff website! .org!

Do you feel threatened or confused now that you have to remember ".com"? (catsailor.net has been around for a long time).

Yes very threatend! I use firefox (you know the "other" browser) so catsailor.com is just one click away.
