Racing starts tomorrow, 54 boat fleet.

Winds easterly today 18+, most sailors got out for 1-2 hours this afternoon.

Look for a short update tomorrow.

Only top ten results and a few photos are available on the suggested website.
A very poor coverage for one of the main 2007 catamaran events in the USA.
I was able to find an interesting info:
Lars Guck is sailing a very SPECIAL A2.
Actually he got only the hulls and foils from NACRA.
All the remaining parts were purchased directly from different suppliers and fully assembled by the same owner.
For more details see:

Hey bill... how come you didn't go? I understand it's a big time and money commitment. I just got back from Tradewinds and Key West race week. Next year wanna charter your baby out? If you hear of any oppurtunities that I could take to sail an A anytime in Bristol i'd appreciate it. I really want to get into them. I'm still at school at RWU and workin at Vanguard now and this summer.

Todd,
I'll let you sail my boat this summer. Next time I'm in Bristol I'll give you a ring. I didnt go because my wife got the flu the day before I was supposed to leave and we decided not to go.

You should have Steve make you a set of hulls, just have him garnish your wages. (I cant have my wages garnishy) You'd have a boat ready for spring.

Bill

I regret to complain again about the POOR coverage of the event.
This morning I found only a few pics of the second day of racing (no story, no results).
I was able to guess only that Lars Guck won the event with 5 bullets out of 6 races.

I suggest you hop on a plane, and spend the next week typing madly so we all know exactly what happened. Or just pipe down.

I do think that poor PR is the main reason behind the lack of popularity of our sport.
Since nowadays it is so easy and cheap to give visibility to an event, not doing it is an unforgivable mistake.
Anyway, for THOSE WHO CARE, I was able to collect some info (without hopping on a plane).
The 2nd best score of the second day of the US A cat Mid Winters (after Lars Guck) was earned by Roberto Casadei sailing a Bimare Vectorworks XJ (Bimare mast, main unknown). He finished 3rd, 2nd and 3rd (his score in the first day had been DNF, DNC, DNC).
The other Italian Teo di Battista, (XJ, Bimare mast and main), who was 8th after the first day (5th, 6th, 17th), continued his consistent track finishing 13th, 7th and 2nd in the last race.
Another top performer yesterday was Woody Cope (XJ, Riba mast, Glaser main), 6th after the first day (9, 9, 5).
I found these info on BIMARE web site.
I was told from a different source that Ben Hall (Geltek Flyer Mk2, Hall mast, Cogan main) finished yesterday 12th, 5th and 8th. In the first day he got a only a 2nd in the first race since in the second heat he broke the mast.

Rick White and Chip Short went down to the regatta today on Chip's boat to get some pictures, but it looks like they aren't going to race because a front is coming through this afternoon.

Joking about which? -- that Rick and Chip went down there to get pictures or that a front is coming through or that today's racing may be canceled because of the front?

A class has a upper limit of 22 knots IIRC.

"Because [censored] starts breaking in more than that"

If there aint static then it's just wet. I'm pretty sure the 'A' cat guys get wet, or do they? Being one that does not keep up with the tech advances in the 'A's there could be a new keep dry option that I just hadn't heard about yet.
