I just purchased a Hobie 16 and plan to trailer it to Ft. Walton Beach, FL in May. Any do's and don'ts would be great! I am looking for a place to launch it on the beach. Thanks for the help in advance.

Best bet is to launch bayside at the Gulf Islands National Seashore Park otherwise known locally as Deckhands. Great sandy beaches, shallow water and a launch ramp, or cattrack off the trailer to the water. The Destin East Pass is only 2 miles to the east and you have access to the Gulf. From there its east or west sailing down the beach. Quite a few beach front bars and restarants to spend a few hours at. Or stay in the bay and sail west down the intracoastal waterway to a group of islands known as the Narrows. Great place to explore on a 16 and a few miles later you will find Juanas beach bar and food.

You cant go wrong sailing here, its beautiful and safe. Grab a chart of the area and get familiar with the fun your going to have!

Thanks for the help Mike! I would really like to be able to sail off the beach on the Gulf side. Are there any regulations against doing so? I believe there is a public beach access next to the condominium where we are going to stay. Could I secure it to the beach walk for the the duration of my stay? Thanks for your help!
