Newbie here on this forum. I have been lurking fot years.
We want to take a CArribean vacation and would like to get in some sailing on small boats. Prefer cats but would take about most anything as I know it is tough to find a boat to sail on vacation.
I would realy like to goto Belize but would consider most places. Prefer to stay away from the mega resorts.
Please give me your suggestions, opinions, experiences and just plain educated ramblings.
I sail presently have 16 hobie, and 16 G cat.

I spend my money on whiskey, women, motorcycles and sailing. What's left over is wasted.

Try St.Thomas US Virgin Islands, some of the best sailing in the world. Clean warm water nice breezes and plenty of Islands close by to sail to.

We held the Wave Worlds at Provo in the Turks and Caicos and you cannot beat it. Almost every resort there has Waves available and a great place to use them -- good winds and pretty flat seas.
We stayed at the Club Med and really got a deal. I believe the price was about $100 per day which included everything -- RT airfare, taxi from the airport, all meals (and awesome food served buffet style), free booze (top shelf by the way), Free tennis lessons, free sailing lessons, free trapeze lessons (like in the circus), and the list goes on.
Never had a better deal.
Great beach on Grace Bay in Provo.., and a great bunch of sailors that live there and race a couple times a week. I am sure they would let you join in.
Rick

Well, Rick would LOVE to spend money on motorcycles. Ongoing debate in this household. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Oldwheels,

I went to Jamaica, Sandals, they had a bunch of Hobies, waves and 16's. none were in good shape, rudder systems were shot, sheets and cleats were in need of replacement. It was obvious that there was no one there maintaining them.
You just don''t know what the resort boats will be like. I had a similar experience in the Bahamas, Atlantis.

You might want to check out http://wf014.lerelaisinternet.com/homepage.html

I did that in 2005 and 2006. It's nice there.
