Guys/Gals:

I have all of mine inside a 15' by 50' storage unit. It is REAL nice not worry about UV or dirt or winter green slime.

In my garage... Trailer fits with 4 inches to spare and the mast just fits hung under the rafters at an angle. I do have a prindle that winters under a tarp outside.

A side note, my wife thinks I'm nuts that I'd rather park outside than keep the boat out there. I was told in no uncertain terms that her car had to fit in there, or the boat couldn't. Luckily I have a big garage. 27'x26'

I have the Hobie 14 in the garage hung from the ceiling now, and the 5.2 is outside under a tarp. I wish I could have it inside but I can't just don't have room. The garage doors are only 8 foot doors so to get the nacra in something would have to be done.

I keep having to explain when big hail storms roll in why I take my Nacra out to my grandfathers barn rather than my vehicle.

Once you go cat you never go back! Nacra 5.2 (Elsies)#1499, running an inter17 spin!

Doug are you bragging, a 15 x 50 storage unit near where I live would command probably in excess of 60K UK pounds rental yearly, to buy it with a small entrance and yard would be in excess of 600K, now thats a lot of boats and holidays.

On the beach with the mast up 12 months a year in Delray Beach, Florida. By the way the cost is $200 a year, a good enough reason to consider moving.

My hulls, beams, and mast winter on the trailer with full covers on the hulls. With the tramp off, the hulls can be wrapped completely and get no sun damage (also, no snow load on the tramp). Every other removable part is removed and stored in my garage. Come spring, I reassemble everything. Since I touch every part, I can check everything for wear and tear.

Mary:

Over the winter here in Texas (I guess because of humidity) here we get a nasty green algee on the boats outside, not counting the UV damage and just plain dirt and grime. It is so NICE to just wash the sand off at cleaning station and put it away after a hard day of sailing. Also nice to have extra security of no one messing with boats.

Driveway, under a tarp, $0.00. My homeowners association has a rule about visible boats so the brown tarp and ti plants camouflage it pretty well.

My wife just made me move the mast from another part of the house, which kinda gives away what’s below. She’s agreed to make up some brown covers.

During the sailing season the boat (Hobie Tiger) is stored in the garage on the trailer. My garage is 22 ft wide and 31 ft deep. Deep enough to keep the mast on the trailer and wide enough to park a car along side. The winter months are different though. The boat is completely disassembled and stored in the basement. I've removed the sailbox and wheels/axle from the trailer. I then tilted the trailer sideways against the wall and tied it in place. Now I have room to park all vehicles inside and not scrape windshields when it snows

Wayne:

Guess I am just lucky. They are up to $290 now. She just gave me a break because I have been there so long.
