In case any one was wondering weather Blade 002 would ever be finished. The answer is (probabaly) Not long now till the deck goes on.
This photo shows some Gurit A500 foam with a layer of 120 gram glass to stiffen her up. A small deviation from the plans.

A similar photo but showing a bridle fitting which is a Stainless turnbuckle with one end screwed out. 2 blocks of ceder 1 on either side of the bulkhead with stainless bolts through the lot. Glued on with Spabond 345 and a layer of aramid over the top and the insde of the hull either side of the bulk head for good measure.

This photo shows another piece of foam used a water tight bulkhead instead of indivudal foam blocks. The theory being you only get holed forward or aft of the water tight bulkhead. The stainless strap is uncut and will be glued under the deck for spinaker sheet support.

This photo shows the rear beam landings. They used to behind the bulhead, but I have cut them out and moved them forward of the bulkhead. I have used 200 gram unidirectional carbon with Ampreg 22 resin and Ampreg 22 slow hardener.

At this stage of the build each hull weighs between 21 and 22 kilos.

Regards Tony

Is that the way the plans say to do it? Is there enough foam inside the hull to satisfy bouyance requirements without taking the watertight bulkhead into account?

If the bulkhead fails on impact what then?

Hi Darryn

No, there isn't enough foam in the hulls to keep her afloat if the water tight bulkhead is compromised.
I have faith in the products Iam using. Iam quite sure it would take a direct hit on the watertight bulkhead for it to fail
But if it dose fail, at least I will have 1 hull afloat.

No, my set of plans do not mention this method. Iam not sure what the latest set of plans stipulate.

Regards TJ
