Hey, driverman, you can help hoist too, you know! That's the bonus of having the snuffer line led to the back beam.... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

One or two yanks at the appropriate time make all the difference, even if you're hiked out.

Don't give my crew any ideas. She lurks around here, and I wouldn't want her thinking that I should be doing anything other than driving the boat and telling her to hoist faster!

I was taught that the driver gives a quick tug on the sheets to get the wading effect undone a little.

Just one BAHB drivers opinion,

I'm all about the skipper helping out in anyway he can for hoists and douses. After having done it myself for a while, I can sympathize with crew when the course board shows 4 laps in a stiff breeze.

When I'm working the front of the boat, I hate it when the skipper starts grabbing at my strings. When hoisting, if someone is pulling the halyard, it's usually disrupting my rhythm and making the next grab of the line unsure. I do like when the skipper holds the sheet up a little when the hoist is being finished so I can get to it quickly - don't sheet it in though, it will make those last couple of inches of hoist a real bear.
