Wouter,
Notice any rooster tails on this photo?
Nope, because they're not there. The mast rake didn't help as much as replacing the rudders. The rudders I had were the original designed rudders that were subject to potential lamination problems, which caused flexing when going hard to weather--creating unbearable weather helm.
Much nicer helm now
Now I can trail Matt & Gina, THE CHUCK, Seth, Pete and Robi at much closer distances I'll start picking them off one-by-one. Robi first ... if he'd get his "butt" off the couch and on the water!

Posts: 3,348 | Mary, see the above attachment. That was shot about noon on Saturday. Saturday was gorgeous by race time. Yes it was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G early in the morning, but the first race wasn't 'til Noon or so.
Sunday was a wash. A tiny bit warmer with outrageous wind!
Eustis is a great venue! Those folks really love the sport of sailing.
Robi- Give Terry's post a good look! Since he took home the "Open Catamaran" trophy and he is ranking me above you; then you inherit my title of "worst" F16 sailor on the planet! Or did I miss something!? Ya gotta git off the sofa, bud.

It never seems to amaze me what a load of crap we have been sold by Tony McKenzie. Recently one of his rudders boards broke and we discovered that there was no carbon in the "Carbon fibre rudders". We all have been the victom of an old fashioned scam. The first set of rudders (proof of skill and capabilities) was "inmaculate", the follow-up order of 10 rudders was rubbish (5 in US and 5 in EU). No F16 sailor, builder or class official will ever do business with that guy again, I'm sure. To bad several of these initial 10 rudder setups have been handed out to F16 owners. Luckily the poor quality was discovered soon after this and not all 10 of them have found their way to dissatisfy the customers. It is good that VWM has quickly replaced them with proper rudders that truly fit the F16 designs. I simply can't believe that these items are so bad, this guy has a name to keep up in the A-cat class. So much garantee for quality that turned out to be. It is good to hear that your new rudders have solved the issue completely Terry. Which type do you have now ? The VWM replacement design or the catamaransparts design ? Wouter

Wouter, I'm actually not sure. I received them from VectorWorks Marine and they are the fully white stock. But yes, touche' to Matt for quickly identifying (and correcting) the problem. It wasn't apparent to me that they had delaminatated as it occurred at the seam within the rudder housing.... I guess I would have needed to exchange rudders with another F16 to rule out rudders. Now I can focus on finding the "groove"! Yippee.

Posts: 1,246 Orlando, FL | Where were Matt, Gina and the Chuck? VectorWorks had customers displaying boats at the Miami Boat Show that weekend, so Matt was busy with last minute orders that they needed for the show. As for THE CHUCK, well, he's THE CHUCK -- mysterious, aloof and "wicked good"!

As far as rudders go, I have not had any issues with mine (yet) knock on wood. I did and still have HUGE problems with the stocks though. That's the Robi I know! When are we doing Sebring again? Tim- I think Matt was busy with work. Chuck is . . . THE Chuck. | | | Re: Blades at Eustis. Where is 701?
