Hi Guys,
We are starting a non-profit cat sailing school from scratch and hope to be up and running this summer near Toronto. We think that this is the best way to get fresh people into the sport. Its been a lot of work, but we are almost there. We have a long term lease on some prime beach front with room for at least 30 boats, permission from the county to build a permanent classroom and some donations and grant money is starting to come in. We are pretty excited about it.

The school will follow the traditional sailing school format of 4x2 week sessions for July and August. We have a few boats already but are looking for more. We are looking for donations of H16s, H14s, P16s or equivalent. Is there anyone who is interested in making a donation?
Thanks,
David

this may go without saying, but is this a youth only sailing school?

Hi Dave, that's great.
Is that going to be at West Lake?
Belwood is talking about having an auction to get rid of the many abandoned boats that are simply taking up room. Maybe you could get a boat(s) for little or no cost?
cheers
Ryan

No we want to be inclusive and give classes to adults as well. This may be with the adults in the evenings and youth during the day, or mixing them together. When I went to sailing school it was mixed and I never heard of any problems but we are having a debate over whether we should do mixed classes. What do you think?

Yes, West Lake. When is the auction? Would Belwood consider donating them? Who do I talk to about it?

By the way, it looks like there will be another twister in the fleet this summer and it will be on West Lake.

I am not sure when it would be. It hasn't been anounced yet, just talking about, I think? You could try talking to Jim Carroll, or any one on the board. Their emails are on the website. I know there is an old A-cat and a few H14's that have not moved in years and have become part of the underbrush. I was hoping they would have had it by now, I was thinking about picking a rig and sail for a cheap ice boat project.
cheers
