Try These:

1. Check the luff track to make sure it's not blocked with bugs, nests or just good old filth.

2. Lube the luff track and luff rope with silicone spray.

3. Check the sheeves/pulleys in the mast head to make sure they rotate freely.

4. As you raise the sail:

Make sure the luff feeder is feeding the luff rope squarely in to the luff track and not binding. Have a helper feed the luff rope.

Make sure the mast isn't rotated relative to the sail. The luff track should point toward the leech of the sail or the luff rope will bind in the track.

Hoist the main. Position yourself far enough in front of the mast such that the halyard is at about a 30 degreee angle to the mast. This will allow the halyard bead (which holds the main up) to easily get past the retaining tang. After the bead is past the tang, walk toward the mast and let the main lower until the bead is in the tang. Hoisting the sail the last 12-18 inches always seems to take a pretty hefty tug.

Finish rigging and go sailing.
