I really think you would be doing yourself a favor buy staying with the fleet that is growing in the Washington area. That, as Don mentioned, is the F18/Tiger. What do you think your plans for sailing are? Just to have a fast boat to sail, sailing with your kid, organized racing? These all play a part in what price you will be paying for a boat. Without relation to another boat the I-18 is a fast boat and you can get one pretty cheap. It will not be competitive, in most instances, to one of the newer designs but a fast enough boat for a thrill. You probably did not have much competitive sailing with an SC20 as there are not many around and I doubt there was much of a fleet in your area, so an I-18 may be just the ticket.

I sometimes run across used Tigers and Nacra F18s if a bit more money will get you on the race course, and that is what you want to pursue.
