I think it is wonderful that freelance professionals have taken an interest in shooting pictures of sailing regattas, but the regatta organizers should try to work out an arrangement with the photographer in advance to have access to some of the pictures for promo and to link to the photographer's web site.
Damon L from Memphis, TN made the trek all the way to Pensacola for the Midwinters to take pictures. He literally got hundreds of pics by sitting in the "tuna tower" of the Committee/Starting boat and using a super high powered lens. The pics were all posted on thebeachcats site. He nearly froze his butt off.... It was great of him to do that.
