Gee thanks for the nomination, but why me??? Who is on the board of GYC that we would have to talk too? Why do you think a "visitor" would have more pull than a member?

Seriously, I don't know that visitors have more pull, but your planning is more complicated. So, the first order of business is to determine how many can and will participate. A three day event complicates scoring somewhat and is a greater strain on organization. An immediate concern will be competition with Spring Fever. No one wants that.
I can't speak for the board, but generally they're receptive to anything that's good for the club. If a three day event is desirable, they would probably get behind it if the attendance warrants it.
