That's great that ABYC has stepped up to host in 2012. It sounded like you guys had great weather for the F18 NA's.
Just curious what ties you guys to Sept. Is it the weather patterns? Does it get to cold after Sept? Or does the wind die? I'm not familiar enough with Southern CA to know.
And Yes, I understand that having the Jury and Race Officers are an important piece of the puzzle. Typically pulling in the Race Committee can be imported almost anywhere that has the facilities. Getting the International Jury is a tougher one. We had a heck of a time getting just one judge for our event. I can't imagine what a Worlds requires.
You really want to work hard to attract the Euro F18 crowd. I wonder if the International F18 Class has looked into how to provide container shipping at a reduced rate. The problem is that if you don't get the Euro contingent here you end up with just a big US event and it's not seen as a true Worlds.
It would be nice to see a couple containers out of Europe and one out of OZ. Wishfull thinking I'm sure. If anyone knows a thing or two about container shipping it should be Hobie and Nacra.
And No, I haven't got an F18. Though I did have a Tiger for a while. I like the F18 class and I like the F18 concept.
