...I don't think one design dinghy racing would have been to far of a stretch for me and anyone else who races cats...
It sounds reasonable, but it isn't - and US Sailing knows better than that.
It is a mistake to mark "OD dinghy" if you sail a "SMOD multi" (Hobies, Nacras), a "formula multi" (F18, F16) or a "development multi" (Tornado, A Class).
A proper survey would have included every possible equipment or replaced them all with "fleet racing", which would have been coherent with the remaining options.
As it is, the survey excludes almost all fleet racing equipment (high performance dinghies, windsurfers, foilers, kites and multihulls) and almost all class types (OD, SMOD, development and formula), to focus exclusively on OD dinghies and keelboats - as if those were the only "real" boats.
This is clearly the product of a short sighted writer with disorganized thoughts and quite evident biases. Don't excuse them, require a proper survey.
