I don't know if it's BS or not, but I was told by my dealer that the newer tires weren't compatable with older rims (my Cat Trax are from 97, I replaced the tires with rims sometime around 2006).

I've also seen some discussion here about getting tubes if the tires are basically OK just not holding air.
