I agree. I would not ask for or expect my entry fee back from an event that had bad weather and/or we never got to sail because of bad weather. I've been to an event that the first day was a blowout, the next day was better, but the chase boats could not make it out of the inlet to set a course. We never sailed and we never asked for or expected or entry fee back. We even drove like 10 hours to get there - but we had fun!
I look at it as the club still had bought trophies, t-shirts, etc. All the organizers and volunteers still spent numerous hours on the event, they deserve to be able to atleast come close to recouping their expenses.
