FYI: I spoke with a respected person in the HCA regarding the Wave min. weight (I prefer not to name his name only to keep him out of a debate he probably doesnt want to be in)
but trust me on the respect part, and this is what he had to say:

Interesting question. I’m sure there was a similar issue with the H14 back in the day as to how to keep the bigger guys sailing the boat without giving the lighter sailors an advantage. I almost think 150 would be too light, more like 165 or 170 would be a more realistic average weight nowadays.

For the kids I’m leaning toward the position that there shouldn’t be a minimum weight. Typically a bigger kid will be older and should have more sailing experience so being heavy will counter the experience of a younger lighter beginner sailor. I also think that for a kid to have to add weight to their boat takes some of the fun out experience.

These are just some initial thoughts on the topic without putting too much time into it and I’m sure my position could be swayed with a convincing argument.

Interesting point of view, but I agree with the thought that the min. weight should be much higher than it is now.
