There is a sailor push to create an F18 fleet for the Tybee or OBX or Atlantic race...Personally, while I'm sure it's doable, I am a little hesitant about racing an F18 in heavy offshore conditions. I'm going to sneak into it though and see how I feel doing mroe shorter distance runs (like starting with Steeplechase). I would like to see a healthy F18 class doing the race and hope to be there again soon.
