Jake, I've never been one to use those little rollers either. I got into composites from the aerospace side and learned the 'Rutan Method' which uses plastic bondo squeegees or the rubber screen process squeegees to both spread resin and remove excess. Very fast and effective. No brushing at all. You might be able to find one of Rutan's videos where he lays up a whole foam core wing in about, oh, 15 minutes or so. Amazing!
