It looks like you are going to miss out on some sailing for a while. Very frustrating for you.

If you want to build new plywood hulls and make changes toward an F16 design you may as well invest in a set of Blade plans and build something that will keep you entertained for years.
Use your existing rig for now and upgrade the bits and pieces later. There will also be some others around to race against eventually.

The question is, how low was your bridle, and had you changed it at all? There are a few (mainly home built) Mosquitos that were built very light for cat rig only. Some even had twin forestays. I've seen one of these rig a spinnaker and survive, but I would feel nervous using a low bridle on a boat like that.
