ya Doug, I plan to race the nacra.

I do plan to try to get someone to come with me and check it out this weekend when it gets picked up just to play safe.

Were you at RR? I didnt see you there last weekend.
$2700 is nice for a 4.3, I'd be scared to run a spin on such a small boat though <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Can you guys please show me where yall see the repair that I'm not seeing?
thanks

There looks to be a patch on the top side of the hull on one of the inside pictures. Also I would check in a few of the pictures it looks like there is some water inside the fiberglass. or at least it might be bulged out

Painted hulls? Yikes! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> If you don't personally know the boats history then be careful. Also adding inspection ports can also be a handy way to access the inside of the hulls for repair... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Check comments about stringers on this post. This boat doesn´t have them, don´t know exactly what that means (and I´m interested...)

I too believe this boat has been repaired. Peeling paint, glass patch and extra portholes. I wouldn't believe what the owner is telling you. Unless its real cheap have it checked out by someone that knows what they are looking at.

About the stringers, some of the Nacra's, at least the earlier one were solid fiberglass and they had stringers. THe newer ones are foam/fiberglass laminate. They don't have stringers so this must be newer than 84 I think.

The boat is an 1986 model. If you look at the pictures you'll see it on 2 of the pictures (one has serial the other has the sharpie writing on the inside of the hull

I have had a Nacra 5.2 and two 5.8's. I am looking for a 5.0 or 500 to replace a Hobie 14 I also have. The 5.0 is usually a solid boat but 3 inspection ports does seem excessive. No way it won't weaken the decks some.

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

ya the one turnoff for me thus far is the 3 inspection ports... I wouldn't have the guts to install 1 inspection port, would worry I'd dmg the hull integrity. Yet 3... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Oh well he said he's sailed it alot and when I go to pick it up I plan to bring someone that knows more about nacras than I do. Any more sugggestions guys?

I am about out of suggestions, my last advice would be that if you feel at all worried about it, don't get it. Be careful and don't get stuck in a boat that you won't like or will be working on constantly.
