Here are a couple of the last race result for the Alpha Omega F14's sailed in South Australia over the summer sailing season which has now sadly finished (we still have our winter series to look forward to though)
They had a VERY successful season with results in every race sailed right up at the pointy end of the race results, both on corrected time and over the line. It is indisputable now that the F14 concept has produced the fastest 14' cats in the world, to the point that there is only a very minor difference in outright performance between them and all the larger off the beach cats sailing. The performance and price compared Centimetre for centimetre in length, square metre of sail for square metre of sail, and dollar for dollar has to make the F14 the “best bang for your buck” of any cat out there.

Darryl,

how was the windstrength and seastate in these races? After what I heard the Rum Race was held in very weak winds?

The Rum Race Rolf started in about 6 to 8 knots and did ease to about 5 knots towards the end of the race, the sea was smooth with a long under swell running, but there was always enough wind for all the spinnaker cats to fill and gain advantage from their kites and as that was for the whole of the race except for the first short beat to the turning “gate” it made for some interesting racing. Mind you nearly everyone that sailed in division one has had many years of experienced and there were several of the guys on the various cats that have won or are national champions, so the competition is not “shoddy” by a long shot.
The other race posted was sailed in excellent racing wind conditions (10 to 14) and as well as these, I have the results of every race that the Alpha F14’s sailed in during the season and although the conditions vary from drifters to 25 plus the one constant, regardless of the weather condition on the day, is the positions at the head of the fleet of the F14

Sounds like you have a winner Darryl.

Tracked down the results from the Rum Race (few photos unfortunately) at: http://www.vhyc.org.au/Results/Special/Rum_race.htm

Finishing three minutes in front of the SuperTaipan is very good, no matter what conditions there are.
Marcus used my spi (his design) on the SuperTaipan, so I was hoping for some pics <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

There are photo's posted Rolf but very unsatisfactory, most are before the start and as they were taken by someone in the duty boat (a VHYC member), all the rescue boats receive a diproportionate percentege of the coverage followed by VHYC club members.
